Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has advised to Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) to be cautious during the work currently underway in the city limits.
In a review meeting with the Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) held on Thursday, December 23, Mayor Premanand Shetty advised the GAIL officials to submit the details of work that will be carried out in advance to the concerned departments of the city corporation.
The officials were also instructed to ensure the roads were properly restored after being dug up for pipeline work. They were also instructed to ensure that the residents do not face problems due to the underground works.
The city corporation has received numerous complaints from residents about the inconvenience caused by the underground work for laying natural gas pipelines by GAIL in the city. Residents complained that while executing the work, water pipelines were damaged at several places, creating drinking water supply in many areas in the city.
The meeting was also attended by deputy mayor Sumangala Rao, MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar, MCC chief whip Sudheer Shetty, among others.
