Mangaluru beef sale racket; AC issues notice to seize accused’s property

Mangaluru: The assistant commissioner (AC) of the Mangaluru subdivision has issued a notice to seize the property of a man accused of running an illegal meat shop from a shed in Arkula village.

On July 3, police raided the shed belonging to B K Khalid at Arkula Kote, based on information that a person named Bashit was selling beef from the shed illegally. The accused Bashit had managed to flee from the spot.

An inquiry with regard to the confiscation of the place and equipment will be held on July 12.

The AC has allowed the accused to present his arguments or counterarguments on that day through his authorized representative or lawyer.

During the raid, the officials had seized meat weighing 95kg, the meat cleaver, weighing equipment, and other items.
