Mangaluru: Birth centenary programme of artist BG Mohammed to be held from Oct 28 to 30

Mangaluru: From Friday, October 28 to Sunday, October 30, the birth centenary programme of renowned artist BG Mohammed will be held at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall.

Addressing the media, the event committee secretary B Ganesh Somayaji said that on Friday, former chief minister BS Yediyurappa will be inaugurating the art exhibition of paintings made by students of BGM Fine Arts.

A souvenir commemorating the birth centenary of the artists will be released by MP and BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel.

A special cover will be released by the Postmaster General Karnataka Circle, S Rajendra Kumar.

On the inaugural day, Bharatnatyam will be performed by the students of Natyanjali Nrithya Academy on the theme “Sambhavami Yuge Yuge”, directed by Vidwan Chandrashekhar Navada.

On Saturday, October 29, an art competition will be inaugurated by the president of Artists Combine, Trevor Pinto. Children below age 10 can participate in the competition. A felicitation programme for artists will also be held.  The programme on Saturday will begin at 10:30 AM.

On the same day, between 4 PM to 5 PM, an art demonstration will be presented by senior artist PS Punchithaya.

Achievers in the field of art namely, Prof Ananthapadmanabha Rao, Dr Rajaram Rai, Gowri Mallya Latha, Sandhya Ramesh Rao, Dr Rathnakar Shetty, Smitha Raj, Sanjeeva Rao, Roopa Vasundhara Acharya, Keerthi Dayananda Bejai, Krishna Prasad Shetty, Akankasha Alva, Rathan M and Shabari Ganiga will be felicitated.

On Sunday, October 30, select artists from an online competition will be painting on the spot between 10 AM and 1:30 PM. Art teacher and BG Mohammed’s son Shabbir Ali will be rendering an art demonstration between 4 PM and 5 PM.

During the valedictory programme, artists who have excelled in various fields namely, Sujanya Joshi, Bharathi Shetty, Yajneshwara Acharya, Akther Hussain, Merlyn Rasquinha Achutha Rao, Naveena Rai, Asha Rao Aroor, Shameena, Rony D’Souza, Shabbir Ali, Eddie Sequiera, Gowri Pai and Shameer Ali will be felicitated.
