It is learned that the suspect lived using an alias and called identified himself as Prem from Hubballi. He had submitted an Aadhaar card of a man from Hubballi who had lost it several months ago. The original owner of the Aadhaar card has been traced in Hubballi and he has no connection with the suspect.

Sources said the house owner was interrogated about the appearance of the tenant and also about his movements during his stay.

Meanwhile, police are continuing their efforts to establish the real identity of the suspect who has been prima facie identified as Mohammed Shariq from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga. A police team is escorting Shariq’s family to Mangaluru to verify his identity.

Inquiry at Udakamandalam (Ooty)

It is learned that the accused had bought the SIM card by producing an Aadhaar card of Surendran of Kundasappai village.
