Mangaluru: An incident of attempted murder of on-duty police officials has been reported from Tuppekallu in Arkula village.
Two constables of the Mangaluru Rural Police Station — Mallikarjuna Angadi and Pradeep Naganagowda — who were on night patrol duty, were reportedly attacked by a group on January 19.
When the duo reached the concrete road at Tuppehalli at around 2 am, two people were seen standing near a parked car. There were another 3 people inside the car. When the cops questioned their intentions, the group allegedly started throwing stones all of a sudden. They even tried to run over the cops with the car.
The policemen jumped away from the path of the car in a bid to save their own life and narrowly escaped being crushed under the wheels.
A case of obstruction of on-duty police and attempted murder has been registered.
