Mangaluru: CCB arrests notorious rowdy-sheeter Akashbhavan Sharan and 4 accomplices

Mangaluru: Mangaluru CCB police Friday arrested Akashbhavan Sharan alias Rohidas and four of his associates in an extortion case. Sharan had been released on bail 2 months ago after securing bail in various cases related to murder, attempt to murder, rape, robbery, and others at various police stations in Dakshina Kannada district.
Case details:
A resident of Haleyangadi had registered a complaint at the Surathkal Police station about a case of extortion. When the complaint was riding his motorbike at around 11:30 PM December 8 unknown persons in a car waylaid, threatened, and robbed him near Chelaru Nandini Bridge. The man lost a mobile phone, Rs 3000 in cash and a TVS two-wheeler in the incident.
After a thorough investigation, police said that they have arrested five accused in the case. They are identified as Kavooru resident Rohidas alias SharanAkashbhavan (38), Anil Kumar Salian alias Anil Pumpwell(40) of Kankanadi, Sainal D’Souza (22) of Bajpe, Prasad (39) of Bantwal Farangipet, and Chetan Kottari (35) of Jeppinamogaru.
Among the accused, Akashbhavan Sharan had been recently released on bail. The cops also recovered the white Mahendra SUV used in the crime.
The police sources also claimed that Akashbhavan Sharan was plotting to murder a rival gang member with his associates. Sharan used the stolen mobile phone in the aforementioned case to threaten the rival.
The other accused involved in the case are absconding and a search has been launched to nab them, police added.
