Mangaluru: Two individuals involved in the illicit trafficking of cocaine from Goa to Mangaluru and Kerala, CCB police said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Sadakath U alias Shaan Nawaz (31) and Mohammad Ashfak alias Ashpa (25), were intercepted near Eliarpadavu village of Amblamogaru village, Ullal taluk, police said.

The arrests were made following concrete intelligence about the illegal sale and transportation of cocaine, they added.

During the operation, a Honda Activa scooter, three mobile phones, a digital weight scale, and cash amounting to Rs. 5,560 were seized from the accused. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs. 4,00,000/-. Cocaine weighing 35 grams, valued at Rs. 2,72,000, was recovered from the possession of the accused, police said.

According to police, investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were part of a larger network involved in the procurement and distribution of cocaine. Their modus operandi included purchasing cocaine from Goa and selling it in Karnataka and Kerala to make illegal profits.

Notably, Sadakath U @ Shaan Nawaz has a prior record, having been booked for drug trafficking and assault at the Konaje police station, CCB police said.

A case has been registered at CEN Police Station, and efforts are underway to apprehend other individuals involved in this nefarious trade, they added.
