Mangaluru: CCB police bust illegal cricket betting operation; Two arrested

Mangaluru: CCB Police apprehended two individuals engaged in illegal cricket betting activities. The arrests occurred in the Surathkal and Kavoor police station areas of the city, police said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Deepak (33), from Chelyar Village, and Sandeep Shetty (38), from Marakada, Kavoor.
According to police, the CCB police conducted simultaneous raids in the Chelyaru region under the Surathkal Police Station and Falnir under the Kavoor Police Station, following credible information. The suspects were allegedly running an illicit betting enterprise, collecting funds from the public, and placing bets on the outcomes of World Cup cricket matches via mobile betting applications.
During the operation, cash worth Rs. 31,000 and four mobile phones were confiscated. The estimated value of the seized property is believed to be around Rs. 1.11 lakhs.
Separate cases have been registered at Surathkal and Kavoor police stations.
Police are actively pursuing additional individuals who may be involved in this betting network.
