Mangaluru: Vegetable and fruits vendors at the Central Market here who were shifted to Baikampady during the COVID-19 lockdown are keen to return to the Market.

M Mustafa Kunhi president of the Central Market Merchants Association has stated that the district administration had shifted them to the Baikampady yard on a temporary basis. Now that the government is loosening lockdown restrictions we will return to the Market. Even the High Court had issued a stay order for the shifting of the merchants to the new location earlier. We will present the order to the officials and on its basis are moving back to the Market.

However, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Mangaluru City Corporation has reacted that if the merchants shift back to the Market they will be in contempt of the court as the court has not issued any stay order. If they shift back to the Market it will go against them in the court.
