In response to multiple complaints from the public, the police department has taken action against 16 auto drivers in the city for overcharging passengers.
On Saturday night, officers disguised themselves as regular passengers and hired auto rickshaws to catch the offenders in the act.
These drivers were found to be collecting fares higher than the rates prescribed by authorities. As a result, cases have been registered against all 16 of them.
The police have urged the public to report any instances of overcharging by auto drivers and assured that strict action will be taken against such offenders.
