Mangaluru: Coast Guard Academy to come up at Kenjar

Mangaluru: Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, T M Vijay Bhaskar announced the handing over of more than 160 acres at Kenjar in Mangaluru taluk for setting up of the Indian Coast Guard Academy.

The land was allotted from the land bank of Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

Bhaskar made the announcement at the commissioning of the high-speed interceptor boat C-448 of the Indian Coast Guard at New Mangalore.

He further said that the state government has facilitated the process of land allotment and commented that the Academy will become a premier institution of the nation.

The Academy was first planned at Kannur in Kerala but was cancelled by the Union government on environmental concerns.
