Mangaluru: The coastal region of Karnataka has been experiencing a noticeable drop in morning temperatures, with Mangaluru city recording minimum temperatures of around 20-21°C in recent days. In rural areas, the temperatures have dipped further by 1-2°C.

Currently, clear skies prevail as the rain has receded. Dewfall during the night and fog in rural areas have added to the chill, with the cold weather lasting until 8-9 AM.

The Meteorological Department has indicated that the current temperature trend is likely to persist for a few more days, with fluctuations expected only after January 15.

Cold Wind Warning
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wind advisory for parts of the state, including the North Karnataka districts and interior regions of both North and South Karnataka. Minimum temperatures are expected to drop by 2-4°C below normal, which could lead to a slight dip in temperatures along the coastal areas as well.

Warm Afternoons
Despite the chilly mornings, temperatures rise significantly during the day, resulting in warm and sunny afternoons. However, the air retains a slight chill, and the cold intensifies again by evening.
