Mangaluru: Compol distributes grocery kits to transgenders

Mangaluru: City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar along with DCP (Law and Order) Hariram Shankar, DCP (Crime and Traffic) Vinay A Gaonkar distributed grocery kits to more than 80 transgenders in Mangaluru on Friday, May 28.
It is said that the kits were distributed under the recently launched Samanvaya platform by the Police department.
Samanvaya facilitates coordination between Indians abroad wishing to be involved in aiding the needy or even their relatives staying in Mangaluru. One can call the number 9480802300 for providing support and materials to any organisation involved in relief work or directly to the person affected by COVID-19.
It is said that the officials received a call from an NRI regarding the problem faced by transgender due to the pandemic. After which a donor named Arun Vijayendra Bhat was contacted and he agreed to distribute grocery kits to transgenders.
Arun Vijayendra Bhat was also honoured during the occasion.
