Mangaluru: City’s Commissioner of Police N Shashikumar has issued a warning stating that legal action will be initiated if drones are used within Mangaluru Police Commissionerate limits without permission.

To ensure the safety of city’s industries, tourist spots, religious sites, educational institutions, international airports, seaports, oil reserves, other sensitive areas and the general public prior permission must be taken as per DGCA guidelines for all classes of drones, the commissioner said.

The permits can be obtained from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), he added.

He also stated that drone operators must possess insurance to cover any damage caused to a third party in the event of an accident while flying the drone.
