Mangaluru: Cordel Church marks 150th anniversary of its formation

Mangaluru: Kulashekar Cordel Church (Holy Cross Church) celebrated its post-centenary golden jubilee on Sunday.
Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha officiated the celebratory Mass. Rev. Fr. James D’souza, Dean of Mangalore City Episcopal Varado, Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest of Cordel Church, Assistant Parish Priests Fr Ivan Cordeiro and Fr Paul D’Souza, and other guest priests were present.
Bishop Saldanha delivered the Sermon on the occasion and blessed the gathering. Many religious priests, religious sisters, members of Kulashekar Church, and devotees of various churches participated in the celebrations.
After the Holy Mass, a felicitation ceremony was held in which a total of 103 persons, including parish priests, Assistant Priests who served at Cordel Church, and clergy with roots in the church were facilitated.
Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha was honored on the occasion of his completion of 5 years as pontiff of Mangaluru Diocese.
the Bishop on this occasion commended the efforts of the present and past priests of Cordel Church in nurturing the religious needs of the laity.
Parish Priest Fr Clifford Fernandes thanked and congratulated everyone for their contribution in making the 150-year celebration a success.
