The Third JMFC Court in Mangaluru, headed by Judge Tara K.C., has pronounced judgments in two separate criminal cases. One involved indecent behavior with a woman, while the other pertained to the sale of banned drugs. The court proceedings, which took place over several months, concluded with both accused individuals being handed sentences and fines.
In the case of the 2017 incident of indecent behavior near the Ladyhill bus stand, the accused Mohammad Mustafa of Talapady was found guilty. The court sentenced him to four months of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2,500. Mustafa’s actions on the evening of June 29, 2017, were deemed offensive and a violation of the law.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Netravati presented the case on behalf of the government.
Furthermore, in a separate hearing, Ibrahim K., a resident of Kudroli’s CPC compound, faced charges related to the sale of the banned drug ganja. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to six months of rigorous imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 10,000. Should Ibrahim fail to pay the fine, an additional month of simple imprisonment has been ordered.
The arrest of Ibrahim occurred on February 14, 2018, when he was caught attempting to sell ganja near the Kuntikana Junction flyover. The police discovered 50 grams of ganja in his trouser pocket, and it was later confirmed that he had procured the drug from Uppala in Kasaragod for the purpose of sale. Ravish Naik, the then inspector of Urva police station, had registered the case, while PSI Vanajakshi conducted the investigation and presented the charge sheet.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Netravathi represented the government’s side in both cases.
