Mangaluru Customs thwart another gold smuggling attempt at MIA

Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport thwarted a gold smuggling attempt on March 19.
The officials said that a male passenger from Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada travelling from Dubai to Mangaluru by Air India Express Flight No IX-814 was intercepted on March 19, based on profiling.
On scanning and open examination of his luggage, 24-carat gold weighing 96 grams valued at Rs. 6,19,200/- was found concealed in paste form in between the double-layered brown paper sheets hidden in his trolley bag. The gold has been seized, the customs officials added.
