Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Dr Raejndra KV has issued orders for the formation of ‘taskforce committees’ at gram panchayats in view of rising COVID-19 cases and the upcoming State Assembly election in Kerala.
Speaking at a news conference here the DC explained that these committees will be entrusted with patrolling within the limits of the gram panchayat, adding that along with monitoring of people’s movement due to the COVID-19 spread the committees will maintain the safety of the bordering areas due to the approaching election in the neighbouring State.
He further said that there is no restriction on people coming to the Dakshina Kannada district from Kerala, they only have to possess a COVID-19 negative certificate. Those travelling across the border can also arrive at the border checkpost and get tested there itself.
