Mangaluru: Dist administration rolls out guidelines for new year celebration

Mangaluru: In relation to the new year celebrations in the district, the district administration along with Mangaluru Police have jointly held a meeting on Monday, chaired by Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Ravikumar M R, and issued guidelines to maintain the law and order.

The guidelines are as follows:

  1. The registered clubs, pubs, hotels, and restaurants are allowed to celebrate only till 12:30 AM on December 31 at midnight.
  2. Loudspeakers will not be allowed after 10 PM on December 31st as per the Supreme Court directions.
  3. Hotels, pubs, clubs, malls and restaurant owners, and event organizers shall take prior permission from the police department.
  4. Hotels, pubs, clubs, malls, and restaurants shall end any events in time and see to it that the rules are not violated.
  5. DJ and Dolby Dance are prohibited in open-air areas such as beaches, outdoor venues, marriage halls, service apartments, homestays, etc. For organizing special parties and events, the organizers shall take prior permission from the local administration and the police department.
  6. No restrictions on religious programmes. The organizers of religious programmes shall follow the directions of the Supreme Court and the government.
  7. Covid protocols shall be strictly followed.
  8. Homestays, pubs, and clubs which have availed permission from the excise department shall see to it that no illegal activities are carried out. If found any, the owners will be held responsible.
  9. If any suspicious person, anti-social elements, or activities notice, people are requested to immediately provide information to the nearby police station, excise department, or tourism department.
  10. Police forces will be deployed on the field to maintain law and order.
  11. Three patrolling teams of the pollution board, MCC, Panchayat Raj, and the excise department have been formed to maintain the law and order.
  12. Under the leadership of the MCC Commissioner, all the owners of hotels, service apartments, pub,s etc shall be called in for a meeting to brief them on the guidelines.
