Mangaluru: Israeli artist DJ Sajanka cancelled his performance at a party in Bolar on Friday night following opposition by local groups. The program was altered, with other artists performing instead.
Organizations like Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal had opposed the event, citing the potential negative impacts of DJ parties on the youth due to the alleged “drug mafia”. They also accused Sajanka of “disrespecting Hindu deities” in the past, demanding that the program be denied permission. Protest warnings were issued if the event proceeded as planned.
The police, in response, revoked permission for Sajanka’s performance. Although Sajnka arrived in Mangaluru on Friday, he did not perform and stayed at the hotel.
