Mangaluru: A 29-year-old pregnant woman passed away allegedly due to breathing difficulties late Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Sharanya, a resident of Arkula Ganesh Thota.

It is alleged that Sharanya experienced breathing issues late at night on Sunday. Despite walking, as advised by her doctors, the problem worsened. Her family immediately rushed her to the hospital. However, after reaching a private hospital in Padil, doctors declared her dead.

Sharanya had celebrated her 29th birthday just the previous day with a small family gathering. She was eight months pregnant with her second child and had a two-year-old daughter. A few days ago, she had visited the doctor for a routine check-up.

Sharanya had been married for eight years and had been living in a Gulf country with her husband. She reportedly returned to her hometown two months into her pregnancy.

A post-mortem examination is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Mangaluru Rural Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
