Mangaluru: Forest department teams are yet again on their toes after reports of leopard sightings in the Kankanady Ballalgudde area on Monday, October 4.
Forest officials were informed and they found paw marks of the animal in four places. Mangalore range forest officer Prashant Pai has said that the leopards climb down from the Western Ghats via Kudremukh and Moodbidri.
He further said that a detailed drive will be conducted to safely relocate the leopard.
A leopard was allegedly found prowling in Maroli in the city on Sunday, October 3 evening.
Children playing in Maroli in the evening noticed an animal resembling a leopard walking in the distance. As it was dark, they could only see a vague silhouette of a large animal. They reportedly clicked its photos, however, they came out blurred.
The suspected movements of the wild animal so close to the city have created a buzz of insecurity in the area.
