Mangaluru: Engineering student found dead at hostel; suicide suspected

A 20-year-old was found dead at a hostel near Bibi Alabi Road in Mangaluru on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Nitesh Rao, a resident of Udupi and a second-year engineering student.

According to police, Nitesh boarded at the Backward Classes Govt Hostel.

Police said he was found hanging in the hostel. Prima facie the death seems to be a case of suicide.  Nitesh is survived by his mother and sister. His father passed away around 5 years ago.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru North Police Station. An investigation is underway, police added.
