
Mangaluru enters second phase of lockdown

Mangaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, April 14 announced the second phase of the lockdown effective from Wednesday, April 15 and since then there has been an increase in the number of violations in Mangaluru.
The government allowed the purchase of essential commodities till afternoon 12 pm and police have warned that they will take strict action on those who violate lockdown rules. However, many private vehicles were seen in the city on Wednesday. In couple of places police inspection was observed.
In the wake of Ambedkar Jayanthi, banks and ration shops were closed on Tuesday. Hence, there were a greater number of people outside banks and ration shops waiting in the line without following social distancing norms.
Also, many private vehicles without license plate were seen travelling in several areas.
