Mangaluru experiences unseasonal showers

Mangaluru: Few areas in Mangaluru and Kasaragod witnessed unseasonal rainfall on Wednesday, March 9 morning.

The showers came as a pleasant relief to the people experiencing dry spells in the recent past.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light rainfall in Karnataka due to a depression in the Bay of Bengal region.

While Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Kodagu, Chikkamagalur, and Hassan districts are set to receive rains on Monday, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Gadag, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri are to experience it on Tuesday, the agency had said.

The IMD had also stated that the rains with thunderstorms are likely in districts that lie in the Western Ghats region.

It had also predicted rains with thunderstorms on March 9. However, no warning has been issued by the weatherman till March 11 in the state.
