Mangaluru: Family of worker killed in landslide to receive Rs 4 Lakh compensation

Mangaluru: The family of Chandan Kumar, a construction worker who died in a landslide at a building under construction in Balmatta, has been awarded Rs 4 lakh in compensation.

The Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has approved a compensation of Rs 2 lakh. Acting swiftly, the district administration ensured that the Board sent a cheque for Rs 2 lakh to the deceased worker’s wife, Kiran Devi, on Thursday.

Additionally, the contractor of the building under construction has provided another Rs 2 lakh in compensation.

Labor department officials also mentioned that the family of the deceased worker will receive an insurance amount under the Workers’ Compensation Act.
