The Coast Guard personnel rescued a fisherman who appeared to be having a heart attack 36 nautical miles away from Panambur coast by providing him preliminary treatment.

The fisherman identified as Vasanta developed difficulty in breathing and discomfort in his chest area. Fishermen on other nearby boats noticed Vasanta in distress and notified information to district centre of Coast Guard, which sent SOS to its vessels.

Responding to the SOS, the Coast Guard’s Interceptor C 446 boat undertook the medical evacuation of the fisherman and brought him to NMPA in the same boat.   Later he was taken to a private hospital for further medical treatment.
