Mangaluru: Four arrested for attempted ATM break-in using excavator

Mangaluru: Four persons from Shivamogga have been arrested by the city police in Mangaluru for attempting to break into an ATM using an excavator in Surathkal on August 21.
The accused, identified as Devraj (24), Bharath H (20), Nagraj Naik (21), and Dhanraj Naik (22), were apprehended with the help of financial support from the other three individuals.
The police confiscated two mobile phones and a two-wheeler collectively valued at Rs 50,000.
Charges under IPC sections 457, 380, and 511 have been filed against them. The arrested individuals admitted to their involvement in a similar ATM break-in attempt using an excavator in Shivamogga on August 26.
The excavator, which had been stolen earlier on August 4 from the Padubidri-Karkala road area, was utilized for the ATM theft in Surathkal.
