Mangaluru: A woman has been arrested on Saturday in connection with the family suicide case in Morgansgate, Mangaluru.

The arrested accused has been identified as Noor Jahan (50), a marriage broker.

The deceased are Nagesh Sheriguppi (30), his wife Vijayalaxmi (26), and two children Sapna (8) and Samarth (4), all natives of Bagalkote.

It is said that Noor Jahan was allegedly forcing Vijayalakshmi to change her religious faith. She also asked Vijayalakshmi to divorce her husband and marry a Muslim guy.

Reportedly, Nagesh was found hanging while his wife and children were suspected of consuming poison at their home in Morgansgate on Wednesday, December 8.

Police had recovered a death note written by Nagesh from the crime scene. The note alleged that Vijayalaxmi had close contact with a woman named Noor Jahan who had tried to change the religious faith of the wife.

Noor Jahan was called in for questioning and now police officials have arrested her on the charges of abetment to suicide.
