Mangaluru: Gold worth Rs 20L concealed as Kheer mix powder confiscated at MIA

Mangaluru: Smugglers are finding ingenious ways to sneak gold into the country. A passenger tried to smuggle gold in packets of kheer mix powder which was confiscated at Mangaluru International Airport.
Mangaluru Air Customs officers intercepted the passenger trying to smuggle gold into the country and confiscated yellow metal concealed in the check in baggage.
The officials said that the passenger had arrived from Dubai on Air India Express flight IX814 on October 6. The 24 carat gold weighing around 374 grams was extracted from a white colour powder that was packed in 5 packets of ‘KITCHEN TREASURE’ kheer mix.
Total value of the confiscated gold is estimated to be Rs 20 lakhs.
