Mangaluru: The municipal corporation here has asked the traders owning valid trade licences for shops at Central Market to return after the High Court passed an order.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, traders at the Central Market were shifter to the APMC yard at Baikampady.
The traders approached the High Court to allow them to return to the market. The High Court delivered a verdict in their favour and ordered the City Corporation to permit the traders to open their shops.
Mayor Diwakar stated that only those traders having a valid trade license will be allowed to open their shops. Traders who are operating using licenses in others name will not be allowed to resume business.
The mayor added that the Corporation will also launch a drive to clear the street vendors who have encroached footpaths. The vendors have been given a week’s time to evict after which the drive will be launched to vacate them.
