Mangaluru: Heavy rain, waterlogging in parts of city

Mangaluru: Incessant rains continue to lash Mangaluru with many parts of the city receiving moderate to heavy rains throughout Thursday, September 10, and continuing in the morning hours of Friday, September 11.
The skies remained cloudy in the city with the sun failing to make an appearance since yesterday. Several low-lying areas in the city were flooded after heavy rain battered the city. Rainwater entered the houses and submerged vehicles parked on the roads. A concrete road near Kuntikana has developed cracks.
The meteorological department had predicted heavy rainfall to continue in the state till September 13 and a red alert had been issued in parts of Karnataka by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for September 11.
“Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada are very likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at few places with very heavy rainfall at isolated places; red alert announced on Sept 11. Coastal Karnataka is very likely to receive widespread rainfall from September 9 to 13,” CS Patil, Director of the IMD, Bengaluru had said.
