Mangaluru International Airport receives ‘bomb threat’ email, security tightened

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru International Airport here received an email threatening to “blow up” the airport. The police, meanwhile, have tightened the security at the airport.
Mangaluru City police said the email was received on April 29 at around 9.37 am. Airport officials lodged a police complaint about the threat received.
The email mentioned that explosive devices were placed in 3 locations at the airport, sources said.
In a press release, Mangaluru City police said that a case has been registered at the Bajpe Police station in this regard. Preliminary investigation showed that similar threats were received at more than 25 airports, including Mangaluru, across India. Bajpe police are also investigating the source of the email, they added.
