Mangaluru: A lawsuit has been filed in court regarding an alleged fraud committed by a woman and her children against Mangalore Souharda Sahakari Ltd.

The accused in the case is a woman named Shilpa Gajanana Poonja and her children.

Reportedly, Shilpa and her children had to repay the loan amount of Rs. 1.5 crores to Mangalore Souharda Sahakari Ltd for which they had issued a cheque. However, the cheque is said to have bounced.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Mangalore Souharda Sahakari Ltd Chandrika D Rao said, “They have tried to evade repaying the loan and to have the case in their favour, they have produced fake documents to the court. We have decided to register a defamation case against them. The bearer cheque of Rs. 2.54 lakhs provided by Shilpa and her children has been deposited to their loan account. Hence, we cannot be blamed for any fraud”.
