Mangaluru: In a meeting held on Thursday by the held by bus owners associations most of them agreed to start private and city bus services from July 1.
Speaking to Udayavani after the meeting Rajavarma Ballal, president of the Canara Bus Operators’Association and Dilraj Alva, president of the City Bus Operators’ Association said that that a decision to restart limited services has been made and they will follow up on their appeal to the State government on their tax exemption demand.
saying, “Ju. City buses will start operating in Mangalore city from 1 pm onwards. “Some of the tax-exempt demands have already been submitted to the state government and we will appeal again in the next few days,” he said.
On Thursday, over 200 KSRTC buses plied to Puttur, Dharmasthala, Uppinangady, Subramanya, Udupi, Bagalkot and Hubli from the district.
Buses operated from 7 am to 1 pm and the number of passengers was less.
KSRTC also started few services from Udupi to Bengaluru, Karkala, Kundapura, Mangaluru, Shivamogga, Shirur, Agumbe, Sringeri, Balehonnur and Chikkamagaluru.
