Mangaluru: Lokayukta officials conducted a raid on Tuesday morning at stone quarries in Niddodi, which were operating without proper licenses.

The raid was led by Upa Lokayukta Justice Veerappa, who inspected the quarries where operations were allegedly being carried out without valid permits. It was also discovered that activities continued on patta land even after the licenses had expired.

As the raid began, laborers and JCB operators reportedly fled the scene. Instructions were given to Moodbidri police to file a case and seize the equipment used in the illegal operations.

Action Against Negligent Officials

Justice Veerappa visited two stone quarries during the raid and expressed anger over the negligence of Mines and Geology Department officials, who allegedly failed to enforce the law effectively.

The raid team included ADC Santosh, Lokayukta SP Nataraj, revenue officials, and officers from the Mines and Geology Department. Further investigations are underway.
