Mangaluru: Lokayukta sleuths seize materials worth Rs. 40 lakh in relation to illegal sand mining

Mangaluru: Based on the complaints received on illegal sand mining by the Karnataka Lokayukta sleuths raided at illegal sand mining areas at Mulki, Belthangady, and Bantwal on Friday, December 9.

The raids were conducted by forming three teams under the leadership of SP Lakshmi Ganesh K of Karnataka Lokayukta, Mangaluru Division, DySPs Kalavathi and Chaluvaraju B, and Inspector Amanullah A.

From the raids conducted the sleuths seized materials worth Rs. 40 lakhs including a lorry, tipper, JCB, and sand

Later, the seized materials were handed over to respective police stations.

Three criminal cases have been registered.

As per the Lokayukta press statement, inspections in several areas regarding illegal sand mining are on.

Meanwhile, the Lokayukta has warned the concerned officials of stringent action for negligence in curbing the illegal process.
