Police officials have arrested a youth identified as Anish Rehman, a resident of Kadaba, on charges of deceiving a woman by engaging in a physical relationship with her under the false pretense of marriage.
The 24-year-old victim lodged a written complaint with the Mangaluru women’s police station on June 26, detailing her ordeal.
According to the victim, the accused initially made contact with her through the popular social media platform Instagram, and over time, they developed a romantic relationship. The woman claimed that Anish Rehman not only professed his love for her but also promised to marry her. Consequently, she trusted him and accompanied him to a private lodge in the city. Over a period of 20 days, the accused engaged in a continuous physical relationship with her.
However, the victim later discovered that Anish Rehman was already married, prompting her to disclose the matter to her family. Subsequently, the local authorities were informed, leading to the arrest of the accused on June 26. Anish Rehman was subsequently presented before the court on June 27, where he was remanded to judicial custody for a period of 14 days.
