Mangaluru: A man was allegedly cheated of Rs 18,119 by a private financier under the pretext of facilitating loans.

It is said that the man received a call from an unidentified financier asking him to submit KYC documents to obtain a loan.

Later, he received another call stating that his loan has been sanctioned and demanded agreement charges to be paid via UPI.

The man transferred the money to them and he was asked to wait for his loan to be disbursed. But as he did not receive the promised loan amount he filed a complaint at the city police station.

Further investigations are underway.
