A man suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a group of three individuals wielding a sword near the Nehru Maidan football ground in the city on November 13.

The victim, Gunnu Chaudhary, was seated on the footpath near the football ground when his acquaintances, identified as Faisal, Santu, and others, approached him. An argument ensued over a trivial issue. As Chaudhary prepared to leave the three men confronted and threatened him.

Reportedly, Faisal brandished a small sword during the confrontation. Santu snatched the sword from Faisal and inflicted severe injuries to Chaudhary’s stomach. The injured victim has since been admitted to the hospital.

A case has been registered.
