Mangaluru: A an from Mangaluru was allegedly duped of Rs 2.92 lac by a person who assured him of help in building a house.
The victim has lodged a complaint in this regard with the cyber crime, economic offences and narcotics police station here.
On September 20, 2021, a person had contacted the complainant via WhatsApp and enticed him by offering a gift and assurance to help build a house.
Two weeks later the man called him and said that his gift had arrived at Delhi and a sum of Rs 35,000 had to be paid for it to be sent to Mangaluru. The complianant believing the man transferred the said amount via Gpay to him.
The caller called him on two other occasions and further extracted Rs 2.57 lakhs from the complainant.
The victim later realised that he had been conned and filed a complaint in this regard.
