Mangaluru: A man here was duped of Rs 7.86 lakh after he believed the information that he had won the prize of Rs 12 lakh in an online draw.

In December 2020,  the man received a post allegedly from Naaptol online shopping company that contained a scratch card and a letter. It said that he had won Rs 12 lakh.

He called the number given on the post and was asked to fill in the bank details. Later, he received a call from a person named Pradeep Poojary.

He told him that he would have to pay some fees in order to receive the amount.  The man then transferred a total amount of Rs 7,85,800 in phases.

However, he later realized that this was a scam and registered a complaint at cybercrime police station
