Mangaluru: A government medical officer has been suspended from duty here, after the allegations of misbehaving with a female colleague were found to be true. Meanwhile, a video of the purported incident was being circulated on social media.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V informed that the government has ordered the suspension of Dr. Ratnakar, who is a district programme officer of the Health and Family Welfare Department.
A sexual harassment complaint was received against Dr. Ratnakar a few months ago and the matter was also investigated by an internal committee of the Health Department and the District Level Complaints Committee. As the preliminary investigation found the allegations against the doctor were genuine, a report had been submitted to the government for further action, the DC said.
The DC further said that Dr. Ratnakar has been under suspension since November 8. “A departmental investigation was being conducted by the health department,” he added.
