Mangaluru: Minor girl sexually harassed by man at Talapady; Accused arrested

Mangaluru: Police officials have arrested a man for sexually harassing a minor girl on Wednesday at Alankarugudde in Talapady.

The arrested accused has been identified as Abdul Rashiq, resident of K C Road.

The incident occurred when the girl, a student of a school in Kotekar, had taken a shortcut to reach the bus stop near the Talapady checkpost.

Abdul Rashiq who came on his scooter tried to molest and sexually harass her. The victim then cried for help. But, by the time the locals gathered, the culprit had fled from the spot.

With encouragement from locals, the girl then lodged a complaint with the Ullal Police Station. The police personnel inspected the spot of the crime and collected evidence.

Rashiq has now been arrested and he is also accused of molesting another minor girl at Ucchila.
