Mangaluru: Murderous assault on chicken shop staff – Two rowdy sheeters arrested

Mangaluru: Two rowdy sheeters were arrested for allegedly assaulting staff of a poultry shop at Valencia Junction, police said.
The accused have been identified as Preetham Poojary (27) of Jalligudde Bajal and Dheeru Yane Dheeraj Kumar (25) of Yekkur.
Details of the incident:
On April 10, the accused created a ruckus at 6.30 pm by assaulting a man in front of the Ideal Chicken Shop at Valencia junction. When the shop staff tried to intervene, the accused physically assaulted the staff with helmets and stones. Sunil Mardi, Anantha, and Jeevan, — all staff of the shop sustained injuries in the assault, police said.
The accused also tried to stab the staff with knives but were prevented from doing so by the public gathered during the fight. They brandished the same knife to threaten the public. In the melee, the accused sustained injuries and were caught by the public. They were later handed over to the police.
The weapons used for the assault — two knives, stone, and helmets — were seized by the police.
A medical examination revealed that both accused had consumed alcohol and Preetham was high on Ganja at the time of the incident, police added.
