Mangaluru: No hike in private bus ticket fares for now

Mangaluru: The Canara Bus Owners’ Association has decided not to increase private bus ticket fares in the district for now.

Speaking to Udayavani, the association’s president, Rajavarma Ballal, mentioned that the state government’s implementation of the Shakti Scheme has negatively impacted the passenger footfall on private buses. “Despite the rise in spare part costs and diesel prices, private bus operators, already struggling post-COVID, have deferred a fare hike decision for now. However, a meeting with association officials will be convened soon to discuss the issue,” he said.

Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators’ Association president Azeez Parthipady also clarified, “There is no immediate plan to increase ticket fares for city buses in Mangaluru. A decision will be taken in the coming days after a scientific assessment.”
