Mangaluru: Notorious criminal arrested in chain snatching case

Mangaluru: CCB Police apprehended a notorious criminal for his involvement in a recent chain snatching case.

The accused, identified as Chandrasekhar alias Darling Chandra (29), hailing from Bidadi Hobli, Ramanagara District, was apprehended near Bangra Kuloor on November 4, police said.

The case pertains to an incident that occurred on October 21, when two unidentified individuals snatched a karimani necklace from a woman’s neck on Bejai Church Main Road under Mangalore East Police Station. Following this, a specialized team from the Mangalore CCB unit was mobilized to track down the culprits.

Police said that a 21.3-gram gold karimani chain, a VIVO mobile phone, a HERO keypad mobile phone, and a Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 Motorcycle were confiscated from the accused. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at Rs. 2,41,000/-.

According to police Darling Chandra has a history of criminal activities, with cases registered against him for extortion, murder, attempted murder, and assault in various police stations, including Harohalli, Kumblagodu, Bidadi in Ramanagara District, and Dabus Pette and Nelamangala Rural Police Stations in Bengaluru Rural District.
