Mangaluru: An aide of notorious gangster Ravi Poojary was arrested by Central crime branch police recently for allegedly making extortion calls to people.
The arrested identified as Ghulam was produced before the court and has been remanded to 10-day police custody.
According to the police, Ghulam was acting on the directions of Poojary.
Earlier this year Poojary was arrested and extradited from the west African country of Senegal. He was in many cases including extortion and murder in different parts of the country. In Karnataka itself he faces over 90 cases, in which 25 cases are under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
