Mangaluru: Old Kulur bridge opens for traffic after repair

Mangaluru: The repair and rehabilitation of the old Kulur bridge have been completed and it is now open for traffic. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel on Wednesday inaugurated the old bridge for traffic at Kulur which was closed for traffic due to repair work.
The bridge that has been serving the people since the last 67 years was closed recently after the National Highways Authority of India, which had earlier found that this bridge, which was inaugurated on September 21, 1952, was unfit for movement of heavy vehicles.
The bridge was repaired at the cost of Rs 38 lakh. Meanwhile, the new bridge project awaiting clearance, and once the work is warded, the project should be completed in 18 months.
MAL Bharath Shetty was also present on the occasion.
