Mangaluru: One dead, another seriously injured after lorries collide near Gurupura

Bajpe: One person was killed, and another was critically injured after two heavy vehicles collided on National Highway 169 here on the morning of December 5.
The accident occurred on the slope at Bellibettu near Gurupura where a tipper lorry rammed head-on into another lorry.
The driver of the tipper lorry, identified as Lokanath of Kavoor, lost his life in the incident.
It is gathered that the lorry driver, who is said to be from Andhra Pradesh, is seriously injured. He has been rushed to a hospital.
The lorry was going towards Mangaluru from Moodabidre and the tipper was moving towards Kaikamba-Gurupura.
Local police visited the accident scene and are conducting an investigation.
Meanwhile, traffic on the busy National Highway was affected as the damaged vehicles blocked all lanes. Efforts were underway to shift the debris at the time of publishing this report.
Vehicles, meanwhile, are being rerouted via the Banglegudde-Bandasale route.
